Drug Availability Update

Further to DrugAlert volume 611, HPS Pharmacies wish to give notice that Ferring Pharmaceuticals is continuing to experience an interruption to the supply of Minirin^® as follows:

Minirin^® Nasal Spray
Desmopressin acetate 10mcg/spray
ARTG 59320

Minirin^® Nasal Drops
Desmopressin acetate 100mcg/mL
ARTG 16828

Minirin^® Nasal Spray remains unavailable. Supplies of Minirin^® Nasal Drops are currently limited with a supply shortage expected next month. Ferring anticipates that this will be a long-term supply issue with supplies of both products estimated to return to normal by the end of December 2021.

Patients who are currently using an intranasal form of desmopressin should consult their prescriber for advice on alternative treatments. The following formulations of desmopressin are not affected by this supply interruption:

• Minirin^® Tablets
• Minirin^® Melt
• Minirin^® Injection Ampoules

The approved indications vary for these formulations; the product information should be consulted for appropriate use.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units until supplies return to normal. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
