Drug Discontinuation

HPS Pharmacies wish to give notice that Aspen Pharmacare has discontinued Zantac^® Effervescent Tablets as follows:

Zantac^® Effervescent Tablets
Ranitidine 150mg
ARTG 45993 

Possible alternatives to Zantac^® Effervescent tablets include:

• A tablet or capsule presentation of an alternate H₂ receptor antagonist;
• A proton pump inhibitor (available as orally disintegrating tablets and enteric coated granules for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets); and/or
• Diet and lifestyle modification.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units for one month. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
