Drug Availability Update

Further to DrugAlert Volume 516, HPS Pharmacies wish to give notice that Pfizer are experiencing a supply interruption for gentamicin ampoules as follows:

DBL™ Gentamicin Injection
Gentamicin (as sulfate) 10mg/1mL
ARTG 16339

Pfizer Gentamicin Injection BP
Gentamicin (as sulfate) 80mg/2mL
ARTG 11376

Normal supplies of DBL™ Gentamicin Injection 10mg/1mL are expected to resume in late June 2020. Pfizer Gentamicin Injection BP 80mg/mL is currently available in packs of 50 only; packs of 10 ampoules are expected to return in late April 2020.

Pfizer has also issued notice of an anticipated supply interruption for the 80mg/2mL ampoules. This product is expected to be out of stock from late May 2020 until late April 2021.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units until supplies return to normal. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
