HPS Pharmacies wish to notify that Merck Sharp & Dohme has advised of an upcoming change to the appearance of Sinemet® (levodopa + carbidopa) tablets and their inactive ingredients as follows:

Yellow, round tablet

“650” on one side, plain on other

Inactive ingredients:

Hydroxypropyl cellulose, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, pregelatinised starch, quinoline yellow.


Yellow, oval tablet

One side scored and marked “650”, other side plain

Inactive ingredients:

Pregelatinised starch, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, quinoline yellow.

Sinemet® 250/25 Tablets
Light blue, dappled, round tablet

“654” on one side, plain on the other

Inactive ingredients:

Hydroxypropyl cellulose, crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, pregelatinised starch, indigo carmine AL.


Light blue, dappled, oval tablet

One side scored and marked “654”, other side plain

Inactive ingredients:

Pregelatinised starch, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, indigotine.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units for one month. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
