Product Discontinuation

HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that Pfizer Australia has discontinued Aciclovir Intravenous Infusion as follows:

DBL Aciclovir 250mg/10mL Intravenous infusion injection vial may be considered as a substitute. Differences between these two products, as shown in the product information, include:

• The DBL product is supplied in a glass vial, the Pfizer product in an ampoule;
• Excipients listed
  • DBL product – Sodium hydroxide, water for injections
  • Pfizer product – Sodium chloride (for isotonicity), water for Injections, sodium hydroxide, and hydrochloric acid.

Storage conditions are the same and each product is preservative-free.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units for one month. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
