Further to DrugAlert vol 587, HPS Pharmacies wish to advise of an alternative supply arrangement for phenelzine tablets as follows:

Phenelzine Sulfate USP Tablets (Lupin Pharmaceuticals)
Phenelzine 15mg

Following the discontinuation of Nardil® tablets, an internationally registered brand of phenelzine tablets has been approved for supply under Section 19A of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. This product is not registered in Australia, but may be supplied under Section 19A until 30 September 2021 for the treatment of depression.

Phenelzine Sulfate USP (Lupin) tablets are registered in the United States of America. Therefore, all labelling is in English. They are presented in bottles of 60 tablets and are listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Unlike Nardil® tablets, they do not require refrigeration.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units for one month. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.

Should you require further information regarding this matter, please contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies.
