HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that there is currently a supply interruption for phenelzine tablets as follows:

Nardil^® Tablets
Phenelzine 15mg
ARTG 93600 

Supplies of Nardil^® tablets are expected to return to normal by late December 2020. To address this long-term shortage, an internationally registered brand of phenelzine tablets has been approved for supply under Section 19A of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. Unfortunately, this replacement product is also anticipated to be out of stock from mid-January 2020 until April 2020.

This supply interruption is due to closures of a number of sites that manufactured phenelzine tablets. This has led to an increased demand for the few remaining global manufacturers of this medicine.

Link Medical Products recommends conserving any remaining supplies of phenelzine tablets for patients who cannot switch to alternative therapy. Alternative options should be considered for other patients, where appropriate. Patients are advised to consult their prescribing physician before their supply of phenelzine is exhausted.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units until supplies return to normal. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
