Further to DrugAlert Volume 219, HPS Pharmacies are pleased to announce that alternative emergency supplies have been identified of:
Suxamethonium Hydrochloride (anhydrous) Injection BP
100mg in 2mL
Suxamethonium Hydrochloride (anhydrous) injection (Succinolin®), 100mg in 2mL x 100 ampoules will be available in limited supply from the end of this week. A second brand of suxamethonium injection, 100mg in 2mL x 10 ampoules, is available for delivery 14 days from placing an order. Both products are to be accessed under the Special Access Scheme (SAS) for immediate supply to seriously ill patients, pending completion and forwarding of a Category A SAS form by the medical practitioner. Category B SAS forms must be completed, and approved by the TGA, prior to supply for all other patients.
AstraZeneca still hold a small emergency stock of Suxamethonium Chloride Injection BP, 100mg in 2mL, ARTG ID: 11988 for distribution to facilities at most need until supplies return to normal at the end of April 2015.
Please retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units as a reminder for all staff members until supply returns to normal.
