HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that Aspen Pharmacare have given notice of an urgent drug recall of:
Imigran® Mk II Injection Syringe
|Contents||sumatriptan (as succinate) 6mg/0.5mL|
|Expiry Date||May 2015|
This recall has been issued because a small number of syringes may have the needle protruding through the rubber needle shield due to a manufacturing fault identified in this batch. A protruding needle will not be sterile and affected cartridge injections should not be used.
No other batches of Imigran® injections, tablets or nasal sprays are affected by this recall, and sufficient stock is available from alternative batches so that no shortages in supply are expected.
Aspen Pharmacare has recently acquired Imigran®, and this batch is printed with the details of the previous sponsor, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
Please inspect your stocks and quarantine all units from the batch specified above for return to your supplier who will arrange for refund or replacement. Any items from this batch supplied by HPS Pharmacies should be returned to the Pharmacy for processing.
Please ensure all items affected are returned to HPS Pharmacies no later than 20th November 2013 to enable us to process and forward all claims to Aspen by the deadline of 27th November 2013.
Retain this notice in a prominent position, including other related business units for one month in case stock is in transit. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
Should you require further information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies or Aspen Pharmacare Customer Service on 1300 659 64.
Information regarding expected dates for supply may vary subject to delays which are out of our control. HPS Pharmacies does not accept responsibility for such changes but will endeavour to keep our clients updated as information is made available from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
