HPS Pharmacies wish to advise of a short-term interruption to the supply of:
Ferinject® (ferric carboxymaltose)
This shortage is due to the unforeseen listing of Ferinject® on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) as a treatment for iron deficiency anaemia, resulting in a higher than expected demand and depletion of stock at the wholesale level.
Aspen Pharmacare Australia has advised that they are managing stock carefully and expect additional supplies to be delivered next week.
There are small supplies available of Ferinject® (ferric carboxymaltose) 100mg/2mL vials, ARTG 162636, however it is not listed as a benefit on the PBS.
Please retain this notice in a prominent position, including in other related business units as a reminder for all staff members until supply returns to normal.
Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
Should you require further information regarding this matter, please contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies, or Aspen Pharmacare Australia directly on (02) 8436 8300.
Information regarding expected dates for supply may vary subject to delays which are out of our control. HPS Pharmacies does not accept responsibility for such changes but will endeavour to keep our clients updated as information is made available from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
