HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that Bristol-Myers Squibb have given notice of a voluntary
drug recall of:

Diclocil® capsules

Contents dicloxacillin sodium, 500mg
Aust R 75592
Batch Nos. 2C01511 2E01745 2L01268 3A02388
Expiry Dates 06/2013 11/2013 04/2014 05/2014

This precautionary recall has been issued because analysis has shown that Diclocil® capsules have not retained the potency specified at 18 months shelf life. There have been no reports of any adverse outcomes.

These batches represent all stocks of Diclocil® capsules in current distribution within Australia, however supplies of the alternative brands Distaph® (also on the PBS) and Dicloxsig® are available and are expected to be sufficient until supplies of Diclocil® return to normal.

Please inspect your stocks and quarantine all units from the batches specified above for return to your supplier who will arrange for refund or replacement. Any items from these batches supplied by HPS Pharmacies should be returned to the pharmacy for processing.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including other related business units for one month in case stock is in transit. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.

Should you require further information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies or Bristol-Myers Squibb Customer Service on 1800 629 273.

Information regarding expected dates for supply may vary subject to delays which are out of our control. HPS Pharmacies does not accept responsibility for such changes but will endeavour to keep our clients updated as information is made available from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
