Drug Recall

HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), in consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), have given notice of a drug recall of:

Children’s Panadol® 1-5 years Suspension

Contents paracetamol 24mg/mL
Flavour Strawberry Orange
Volume 200mL 100mL
Aust R 178300 178301
Batch Nos. JR130869 JR130697

This recall has been issued as a precautionary measure as routine testing has identified that a small proportion of bottles from these Children’s Panadol® 1-5 years Suspension batches may contain more paracetamol than the specified limits, despite meeting product criteria when released.

This notice is not related to the recent recall of Children’s Panadol® Baby Drops with Oral Dosing Device (Syringe), and no other presentations of Panadol®, including children’s drops and syrups, are affected by this recall. No shortages in supply are expected.

Please inspect your stocks and quarantine all units from the above batches for return to your supplier who will arrange for refund or replacement. Any items supplied by HPS Pharmacies should be returned to the pharmacy for processing.

Retain this notice in a prominent position, including other related business units for one month in case stock is in transit. Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.

Should you require further information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies or GSK Product Information line on 1800 650 123.

Information regarding expected dates for supply may vary subject to delays which are out of our control. HPS Pharmacies does not accept responsibility for such changes but will endeavour to keep our clients updated as information is made available from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
