HPS Pharmacies wish to advise that Link Healthcare have given notice of a worldwide shortage of:
This shortage is due to the closure of the manufacturing site and will continue until a new site is commissioned, which is expected to be the end of this year.
Link Healthcare have sourced an alternative supply of carbimazole 5mg tablets which is not registered in Australia, and may only be supplied to patients under the Special Access Scheme.
HPS Pharmacies can offer immediate supply to Category A, seriously ill patients, pending completion and forwarding of the Category A SAS form by the medical practitioner. The form for Category B patients, and TGA approval, must be completed prior to supply to these patients.
Supplies via the Special Access Scheme cannot be subsidised by the PBS, however including the patient’s concessional status and entitlement number on the SAS form will enable access to a price reduction.
HPS Pharmacies will continue to notify of changes in availability as we become aware. Please retain this notice in a prominent position, including other related business units as a reminder for all staff members until supply returns to normal.
Report any problems identified with medicines, vaccines or medical devices to the TGA.
Should you require further information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact your pharmacist at HPS Pharmacies or Link Healthcare Customer Service on 1800 181 060.
Information regarding expected dates for supply may vary subject to delays which are out of our control. HPS Pharmacies does not accept responsibility for such changes but will endeavour to keep our clients updated as information is made available from drug manufacturers or wholesalers.
