Press Release: 2016 Vinnies CEO Sleepout – Help put homelessness to bed

HPS Press Release

A message from HPS’ Chief Executive Officer

I am honoured to announce that on behalf of HPS, I have personally chosen to further demonstrate the business’ commitment to supporting the mission of our Catholic clients by once again participating in the St Vincent de Paul Society 2016 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

The St Vincent de Paul Society is of great importance to me, as well as to HPS, as it is one where there is a close alignment of values, coupled with unwavering dedication to deliver valuable services to our community.

Did you know that in excess of 100,000 Australians experience disadvantage and homelessness each year? For these people, it is not a choice. It is a situation many find themselves in that is often through no fault of their own. And the saddest part is that disadvantage and homelessness is not age bias. There are thousands of children and youths who today do not have a safe home to go to. Despite their age, these people struggle to get by. A struggle that many of us will never know nor truly understand. Imagine trying to survive on as little as a few dollars a day; without warmth, without shelter, without food, and without safety.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is an annual national event that has raised $24 million over the past ten years and offers a small glimpse into life on the streets. This year, the charity hopes to raise a further $10 million to support Vinnie’s homeless services, including the provision of immediate and emergency assistance and the creation of pathways to a brighter future for those in need.

On Thursday 23rd June, I will sleepout in the carpark of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre with only a cardboard box and sleeping bag alongside over 230 other local Chief Executive Officers. Although it will only be one night, I will be afforded the opportunity to go without, in full support of those who go without every day.

With Winter fast approaching, now is the time to donate towards the essential services provided by St Vincent de Paul Society.

Please support my efforts by donating $20.00, $50.00, or whatever you can spare via the CEO Sleepout website to ease the suffering of those who are currently struggling.

Incredible causes such as this also need a greater voice to generate awareness, so Tweet your support via #CEOSLEEPOUTAU.
